Patna: The teachers and non-teaching staff of universities and colleges in the state will receive their salaries and pensions in the first week of every month from now on, said the newly appointed director of the state's higher education, Navin Kumar Agrawal, here on Saturday.
Soon after taking on his new assignment, Agrawal told this newspaper that ensuring the timely payment of salaries and pensions to the working and retired employees of the universities would be his top priority. "No teacher or non-teaching staff in the state will be allowed to suffer due to delayed payment of their wages," he said.
He stated that he would strive to build strong coordination among the colleges, universities, Raj Bhavan and the state govt to ensure the proper functioning of the higher education system in the state. If all the stakeholders coordinate, the state's higher education will certainly improve. He will leave no stone unturned in bringing the state's higher education institutions to the national forefront.
"All the universities and colleges in the state will be encouraged to improve their academic and infrastructural growth and secure good grades from NAAC," he said, adding that the universities will also show improvement in their NIRF ranking henceforth.
Agrawal, a professor of mathematics at L N Mithila University, has also served as the academic advisor for the Bihar State Higher Education Council. His appointment as the director of higher education was notified on Friday, but he took charge of his new assignment on Saturday. He succeeds Rekha Kumari, who retired from service more than four months ago.
