Patna awaits Surya Kiran’s aerial spectacle on April 22 & 23
Patna: The city is eagerly awaiting dazzling air show to be presented by the Surya Kiran aerobatics team of the Indian Air Force (IAF) on April 22 and 23 along the stretch of JP Ganga Path.
On April 22, the team would do rehearsal and the show would be open for school and college students as well as Patnaites. The April 23 air show would be the formal one, cabinet secretariat department (CSD) additional chief secretary S Siddharth said here on Tuesday.
"The air show performed on April 23 would be formal one, and CM Nitish Kumar will inaugurate it. The venue will have seating arrangements for the guests and public," Siddharth said, adding that the seating arrangements would be made on JP Ganga Path on the stretch that falls on the north side of A N Institute of Social Studies (ANSISS), while the information regarding traffic regulations on the two days (April 22 and 23) would be made public through an advertisement.
He said the air show would be akin to the one presented on the occasion of Independence Day and Republic Day at Delhi. As many as nine IAF jet planes would perform and present the air show for two hours each day from the morning between Mahatma Gandhi Setu and JP Setu across the Ganga river. The time of the show for both the occasions is 10.15 am to 12.15 noon.
Siddharth said the air show is being held to celebrate the victory of Veer Kunwar Singh against the British army at Jagdishpur (in Bhojpur) on April 23, 1858, during the First War of Indian Independence (1857-58).
"On the occasion, homage would be paid to the martyrs of the First War of Independence. The air show will also inspire youths to join the IAF," he added.
