: The two-day Indian National Model United Nations (INMUN) 2015 conference began at Shri Ram Centennial School for Girls, Jaganpura, on Saturday with more than 100 students from different schools of Patna participating in the event on the opening day.
The programme is aimed at enhancing the students’ public speaking and debating skills besides improving their critical thinking, team work and leadership abilities.
The students played the roles of delegates from different countries to the United Nations and carried out the operations of the
UN.
Different agendas discussed by the students as a part of various committees of the UN were ‘Implementing freedom of expression and media within religious and cultural consideration’, ‘Human rights violation caused by the insurgent activities of Al-Shabaab’, ‘Combating instability in the middle-east as a result of ISIS’, ‘Drafting an international framework on convention of air strikes and Syrian refugee crisis’, ‘International trafficking of human organ and transplant tourism’, ‘Promoting access to clean water in rural and developing communities’, ‘Tackling forceful conversions with emphasis on Ghar Wapasi and a prospective anti-conversion law’ and ‘A solution to frequent riots in the country.’
Among the students who participated in INMUN 2015 included Shivaang, Aayush and Rohan Verma (DPS-Patna), Shambhavi, Sadaf Nausheen, Prerna Verma, Radhika Pradhan and Nidhi Pratap Singh (
NDA), Shashank Shekhar Jha, Yashu Bansal, Tanumoy Majumdar, Aman Khedwa and Shrij (CNLU) and Bhaswat Mukherjee (Holy Mission School).
