Former PLFI member arrested for killing two cops
Patna: Acting on a tip-off, Patna district police arrested a former member of banned outfit, People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), from his home in Hilsa police station of Nalanda district on Friday in connection with the murder of two cops in separate incidents in 2016.
Barh subdivisional police officer (SDPO)-1 Rakesh Kumar said during an ongoing operation to apprehend fugitives, they received information that accused Mukesh Kumar alias Budhan Gop was at his home in Noniabigha village. "The police quickly formed a team and conducted a raid, leading to his arrest."
The accused had shot sub-inspector (SI) Suresh Thakur (45), who was stationed at Maranchi police station, besides murdering assistant SI Ramraj Chaudhary (50), who was posted at Telhara in Nalanda, in Fatuha.
"A total of 13 cases, including murder, robbery and dacoity, are registered against Gop. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he was a member of the PLFI. He committed the murders of the cops after two PLFI members went missing. The accused continuously changed his name and location to evade the police. Further investigation is on," the SDPO-1 said.
