9 injured as attempt to suicide leads to fire
Patna: A 35-year-old man's alleged attempt to suicide by setting himself ablaze led to an incident of fire at a house in River police station area of Patna district, leaving eight of the family and a neighbour injured on Friday. Two fire brigade vehicles managed to control the fire.
According to police, as Rakesh Choudhary attempted suicide, his family members and neighbour Pramod Thakur (32) suffered severe burns while trying to rescue him. The injured, including four seriously, were sent to Sabalpur Hospital, from where they were referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital.
Upon receiving the information, Fatuha-I SDPO Nikhil Kumar, along with an FSL team, and Patna City fire officer Gayanand Singh arrived at the spot. "We received information about a cylinder explosion, but there was no such trace. There were traces of kerosene. There was an ongoing dispute within the family, because of which Rakesh attempted suicide," Kumar said.
Apart from Rakesh and Pramod, other injured were identified as Arjun (65), Jacky (28), Shanti Devi (60), Mukesh (34), Rajesh (33), Gudia Devi (40) and Tanu Choudhary (18).
