43 file nomination for PUSU election
Patna: As many as 43 students, including 10 girls, have filed nominations for five key offices of the Patna University Students' Union (PUSU) going to the polls on March 29. The time for filing nominations for various offices, including council members, ended at 3pm on Wednesday.
PU chief election officer Rajnish Kumar told this newspaper that the nominations were received at J P Narayan Senate Hall for which the university administration had made elaborate arrangements. "The scrutiny of nominations will take place on Thursday and the final list of candidates after scrutiny will also be published late Thursday evening," he said.
The withdrawal of candidates would be held on March 24 and the polling will take place from 8am to 2pm on March 29. Over 19,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students of the university would use their franchise to elect their union leaders.
While, eleven candidates have filed nominations for the post of union president, nine have submitted their nominations for the post of vice-president. For the post of general secretary, there are nine contestants. Seven candidates each have submitted nominations for the post of joint secretary and treasurer.
"For 22 posts of councillors, as many as 49 nominations have been filed," the chief election officer said.
