Daily flight to Jaipur next from Hindon terminal
Ghaziabad: Hindon civil terminal's connectivity expansion continues, with Air India Express announcing a daily flight to Jaipur from May 1. This will be among three new routes the airline will begin services to that day, the other two being Varanasi and Patna.
Since March this year, the carrier has introduced flights on 12 routes from the terminal, which operates next to the Hindon air base and uses its runway.
The Jaipur flight will depart daily from Hindon at 7.30am and will reach the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at 8.40 am. The return flight will commence from Jaipur at 10.35 am and will reach Hindon at 11.45 am.
The carrier has introduced daily flights to metro cities Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru from the civil terminal. AI Express also operates on the Goa and Bhubaneswar routes.
In March, the carrier launched daily flights on the Jammu route but suspended the services after a few days for "technical" reasons.
"The reason assigned for the suspension of flights is technical difficulties, but it could well be because it was not as economically viable as the other routes," an Airports Authority of India official told TOI.
An Air India Express official said the Hindon civil terminal holds a lot of potential, which the airline intends to tap into.
Located about 25 km from Delhi's IGI airport, fliers from East Delhi, Noida and western UP districts are increasingly opting to fly from Hindon civil terminal for its proximity and connectivity via Hindon Elevated Road and Delhi Metro's Red Line network stations of Shaheed Nagar, Raj Bagh, and Rajendra Nagar Metro and Vaishali station on the Blue Line.
Besides AI Express, Bengaluru-based aviation company Star Air also operates two flights from Hindon to Nanded in Maharashtra and Adampur in Punjab under the regional connectivity scheme. The other three routes—Bathinda, Ludhiana and Kishanganj—are operated by Gurgaon-based FlyBig.
