Nagpur: The local court on Friday issued a non-bailable warrant against the owner of Asian Fireworks fuse manufacturing unit, Sohail Ali Asgar Ali Amin, who has been evading arrest ever since a series of blasts at his company claimed two lives and injured three on February 16. The rural police are now gearing up to get Amin declared a ‘proclaimed absconder' and initiate the process to seize his properties under Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
The Kalmeshwar police, under investigation officer assistant SP Anil Mhaske, and SP Rural Harssh A Poddar, moved the court with detailed 50-page probe details to ensure the warrant was issued against Amin. His manager, Mustafa Shegaonwala, has already been arrested in the case. A private forensic expert engaged in the case found several lacunae in the safety and precautionary measures taken by the company, which engaged untrained and unskilled labourers in the high-risk job involving handling of highly explosive compounds and mixtures.
TOI has already underlined the fact that around a tonne of gunpowder was kept without observing due precautions in the company, which witnessed seven back-to-back explosions followed by fire and the collapse of the concrete structure.
