Nagpur: In a step towards making civic services more accessible and aligning with the Digital India mission, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has launched ‘My Nagpur' WhatsApp Chatbot. The smart facility was inaugurated on Monday by municipal commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari.
Developed by NMC's IT department, the chatbot enables citizens to access key services such as property tax and water tax payments through WhatsApp. A total of four services are currently available via the platform, said deputy municipal commissioner Milind Meshram and IT dept head Swapnil Lokhande.
By entering their property tax UPIN number, users can view the current year's demand bill, applicable rebates, penalty details, and proceed to make online payments. The system also generates a downloadable ‘no dues certificate' in PDF format if no arrears are found. Additionally, the chatbot provides a summary of outstanding dues, payments made, and collection history.
For water tax, citizens can enter their customer number to access their account details, previous payments, and pay outstanding bills through a payment link.
Officials said the initiative aims to save citizens' time and reduce the need to visit municipal offices. With just a few clicks, Nagpurians can now manage their civic dues directly from their mobile phones using WhatsApp, marking a major stride in smart governance and digital service delivery.
Additional commissioners Vasumana Pant and Vaishnavi B were also present during the launch.
