Nagpur: AIIMS Nagpur is set to hold its first convocation ceremony for the 2018 batches after a delay of nearly two years on Saturday. The convocation was due in 2023 but was kept pending for unexplained reasons. Similarly, batches from 2019 and 2020 have graduated, but their degree award is not planned for this convocation, officials said.
Governor CP Radhakrishnan will be chief guest, while Union minister Nitin Gadkari and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis will be guests of honour. AIIMS Exec Director Dr Prashant Joshi will present the institute report on the occasion.
The first 2018 batch, consisting of 50 students, graduated in January 2023, while the next 2019 group of 100 followed suit in 2024. The first and second batch students also completed their mandatory one-year internship, hoping for a memorable moment during their stay on the campus.
However, after completing their internships, the students moved back home or went overseas and may not be able to return to their alma mater. TNN
