NAGPUR: Around 10 tolas of gold and other ornaments and cash Rs 2,000 were stolen from the residence of Verma family at Pannase Layout on Sunday. The burglars decamped with the valuables, worth around Rs 2.64 lakhs, within 10 minutes while the Verma couple had gone to market.
Complainant Gautam Verma and his wife had gone to Khamla to purchase vegetables when the burglars managed to sneak inside.
It's learnt the burglars broke the front door lock to gain entry. The burglars managed to lay their hands on the valuables kept in the wooden cupboard. The drawer in which the valuables were kept had been left unlocked. The Verma couple alerted police upon returning home.
An offence of burglary has been registered at Sonegaon police station.
