Thanks to the efforts of Mounted Company, which is aiming to promote horse riding in Mysuru.
A good number of civilians have started to practise horse riding in spite of the costs involved.
Prakruthi, daughter of police constable Ashwath R, told STOI that she was tense when she began her training but all such apprehensions vanished after her successful completion of horse riding. She now aims to take it up as a serious pastime.
Her parents were initially reluctant to send her for the free training as they were afraid she would hurt herself but Prakruthi, who likes horses, convinced them. Prakruthi is happy she underwent the training and thanks all police officers who made it happen for her.
The first-of-its-kind training in Mysuru saw participation by 21 high school students, including six girls.
Mounted Company Commandant R Janardhan says, "We want to promote horse riding among Mysureans. Riding a horse improves self-confidence and makes a person fit. We have been giving training to civilians too and as an in itiative to promote horse riding among youngsters we chose students of Police Public School as it's run by the police department."
