Mysuru: Actress-turned-politician and Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambareesh on Friday said that she was yet to decide which candidate she wished to back in the elections to the South Graduates' seat in the legislative council.
Sumalatha said that she would take a decision based on feedback from the people of Mandya, and the constituents of the segment. Affirming her neutrality in the campaign for the polls, Sumalatha, however, said that many candidates had sought her support.
"But none of them has approached me in person," she said.
On her political future, Sumalatha said that she would consult the people of Mandya, and decide on her next course of action.
Meanwhile, Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambareesh on Friday visited All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) and educated herself about the facilities, services and education available at the institute.
Speaking to reporters, Sumalatha said: "If similar services and facilities are created at Mandya, it would benefit electorates and the public in my parliamentary constituency.".
Papers are in order, says returning officerMeanwhile, Mysuru regional commissioner and returning officer for the council election to South Graduates' seat, GC Prakash on Friday said that the nomination papers of all candidates were in order. Prakash scrutinised the papers filed by 20 candidates. May 30 was the last date for withdrawal of nomination. Agents of the candidates in the fray, and a few candidates themselves, were among those who were present at the regional commissioner's office during the process.
