Girl drowns in lake near Gonikoppal

Madikeri: A girl drowned in a lake while playing in Channangolli near Gonikoppal. The victim is Lavanya, 9, daughter of Praveen and Bhavani, residents of Channangolli, according to police.
Lavanya, a Class 4 student at Channangolli Primary School, saw children playing in a nearby lake on Sunday afternoon. She went to the lake with her friends, but got stuck in the water and later drowned, police said. Two other children who were also trapped in the water were rescued by the villagers.
Gonikoppal SI Pradeep Kumar and his team inspected the spot and registered a case.
