Thane: The Anti-Narcotics Cell, Thane, dismantled an inter-state MD drug manufacturing and smuggling racket, arresting three of its members. The syndicate was responsible for trafficking drugs from UP to Maharashtra, authorities said, adding that 1.14kg of MD drugs valued at Rs 2.3 crore were seized.
The operation began on April 17, with the arrest of Devesh Kumar Ramkishan Sharma, 32, near Mumbra railway station in Thane. Sharma, a resident of Mathura in UP, was caught with 336 grams of MD. A case was registered with Mumbra police. Sharma's interrogation led police to the supplier Mohammad Kayyum Mohammad Yunus Hashmi from Sohawal, Ayodhya, and his associate Bipin Babulal Patel, 49, of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. — Nishikant Karlikar
