Danve questions appointment of ‘tainted’ ex-town planner in MBMC
Mumbai: Leader of opposition in the legislative council Ambadas Danve on Tuesday raised questions over the appointment of ‘tainted' former town planner Dilip Gheware as special officer in Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC).
Gheware, who was arrested in June 2021 for his alleged involvement in the ULC scam, was reinstated in Nov 2023 as a special officer on a contract basis to handle cluster development projects and implement land acquisition process. He was appointed though he was suspended and even retired, Danve pointed out. Danve also spoke about the complaint filed by developer-activist Raju Shah, who claimed to have received a threat call from Pakistan for exposing that due process was not followed for developing a few properties that are under the Enemy Property Act. MBMC chief Radhabinod Sharma did not respond to TOI's calls and messages. — Vishal Rajemahadik
