Bijnor: A 25-year-old guest house operator in Amroha allegedly shot dead his 22-year-old girlfriend from Haridwar, as he suspected that she was speaking to another man. Following the crime late Monday night, he walked to the industrial police outpost and confessed, police said on Tuesday.
Accused Ankush Chaudhary had been in a relationship with the victim, Rosh alias Jhilmil Prajapati from Haridwar's Kankhal area, for over a year. On Sunday evening, he called her to his guest house, where a heated argument ensued, which soon escalated and in a fit of rage, he shot her in the head.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim's mother, a case was registered under BNS section 103 and section 3/25 of the Arms Act.
Amroha SP Amit Kumar Anand said, "Ankush, a resident of Dhanauri Khurd village under Bachhrau police station, was arrested. He confessed to the crime. A country-made pistol was recovered from his possession. Forensic teams have collected evidence and investigation is on."
