Mangaluru: Renowned choreographer and actor
Prabhu Deva made a spiritual stop at the famous Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple on Saturday, offering prayers along with his family. The temple, located around 100km from Mangaluru, is one of the most revered pilgrimage centres, drawing devotees from across the country.
Temple executive officer Aravinda Ayyappa Suthagundi told TOI that Prabhu Deva participated in a maha abhisheka. Following the ritual, he was honoured by the temple committee with a traditional shawl and prasadam. The visit was low-key but drew attention from devotees and fans who were present at the temple.
Situated on the serene banks of the Kumaradhara River, the temple is famous for its Sarpa Samskara and Ashlesha Bali rituals, performed to seek relief from sarpa dosha, a belief deeply rooted in Hindu tradition. These rituals draw thousands of devotees every year, including several well-known personalities from the film and political fraternity.
The temple witnesses an average footfall of 5,000 devotees daily, which swells up to 8,000 or more during weekends and the holiday season. Recently, Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif also visited the temple. |
