Newborn found dead in toilet in Udupi

Udupi: Malpe police launched a probe after the body of a newborn was found in a toilet on Monday. The mother of the child, an unmarried woman, has been identified, police sources said.
In a complaint, the manager of the Jamia Masjid located near Malpe Junction stated that the mosque has a two-storey building adjacent to it, and a toilet facility was constructed beside the building for workers.
On April 14, at around 1.10pm, the complainant entered the toilet and discovered a newborn baby lying inside. Bloodstains were also observed on the inner wall of the toilet. It is suspected that the baby either died before birth, during birth, or shortly after birth. Unidentified individuals are believed to have secretly disposed of the infant's body in an attempt to conceal the birth, he suspected in a complaint.
A case was registered at Malpe police station under Section 94 of the BNS.
