Mangaluru: Former DSP and president of Bhaarateeya Janashakthi Congress, Anupama Shenoy, has written to Karnataka assembly speaker UT Khader, seeking clarity on whether chief minister
Siddaramaiah submitted any letter along with the controversial Hublot watch he handed over in 2016.
Addressing reporters on Wednesday, Shenoy said she filed a query under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, asking if the letter numbered PSCM/269/2016, dated March 2, 2016, available online, was officially received by the speaker's office. "If this letter exists in your records, I request you to provide an attested copy," she stated.
In a related development, Shenoy urged Dakshina Kannada MP Brijesh Chowta to meet Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and seek an update on the complaint filed by advocate S Nataraj Sharma in 2016. Sharma filed three complaints with the Lokayukta, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), and Enforcement Directorate, regarding the Hublot watch. He also filed a writ petition in March 2016.
Shenoy called upon the MP to pursue the matter and make the current status of the case public. She also urged him to facilitate the establishment of a
National Investigation Agency (NIA) office in Mangaluru at the earliest.
