Officials told to expedite work of canal-based water supply project
Ludhiana: The status of the ongoing canal-based water supply project, being funded by the World Bank, was reviewed by the project monitoring committee Friday.
During the meeting at MC's Sarabha Nagar office, MC commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal issued necessary directions to expedite the work and improve coordination between different departments.
Dachalwal said the setting up of a world-class water treatment plant is in full swing at Bilga village (near Sahnewal), and overhead water reservoirs are also being set up in different parts of the city. A pipeline also needs to be installed for supplying treated surface water from Bilga to the city. As different departments are involved in the project, regular meetings of the PMC are being held to speed up the work.
MC joint commissioner Ankur Mahindroo, chief engineer Ravinder Garg, superintending engineer (projects) Parul Goyal, GM (projects) Harsatinder Pal Singh Dhillon, and manager (environment and social), PMIDC Badal Soni, among other officials of PSPCL, Glada, NHAI, forest and other departments, were present in the meeting.
