Admn, police officials enhance farmer outreach
Ludhiana: In a bid to prevent stubble burning, joint teams of civil and police officials are working in the field even on holidays to educate farmers about the ill-effects of farm fires.
“Civil and police teams comprising officials from PPCB, agriculture, revenue, BDPOs, DSPs and SHOs are organising marches in villages daily to deter violators,” said an official statement. It added that the teams had enhanced engagement with the farming community on the directions of DC Jitendra Jorwal.
“The teams are actively coordinating with sarpanches, youth clubs, village committees and other stakeholders to raise awareness about the harmful effects of stubble burning. A total of 211 nodal officers and 90 cluster officers, along with police counterparts, are closely monitoring their respective areas to prevent such incidents,” said the statement.
DC Jorwal said that the teams are also providing equipment to farmers raising the demand to manage stubble. tnn
