Patient died 10 mins before fire broke out: Lokbandhu Hosp
Lucknow: Doctors at Lokbandhu Hospital on Tuesday said a 61-year-old patient, who was reported to have died due to removal of oxygen support while being shifted to SPM Civil Hospital, was actually declared dead about 10 minutes before the fire broke out.
Rajkumar of Chhitwapur in Hussainganj was admitted to Lokbandhu on April 13 with low blood pressure and passed away on Monday night. Hospital authorities said he was suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD) that led to multiple organ failure. He was on ventilator support but succumbed to complications.
Medical superintendent Dr Ajay Shankar Tripathi said: "Rajkumar was declared dead before any shifting process began. Amid the chaos after the fire, his family may have mistakenly placed his body in the ambulance with other patients and taken him to Civil Hospital, where he was again declared dead upon arrival."
The incident gained attention after Rajkumar's son, Deependra Prajapati, alleged that his father died when his oxygen support was removed before shifting.
"We took him to Civil to check if he was still alive," he said.
Rajkumar is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.
