Over 3L applied for MMYUVA, speaks volumes of scheme: Yogi
Lucknow/Ayodhya: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said over 3 lakh young entrepreneurs have applied for the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Yojana Vikas Abhiyan (MMYUVA) so far which shows the scheme's overwhelming potential and success.
"The MMYUVA will serve as a strong base for your economic self-reliance. This is an interest-free loan. If you repay the principal amount on time, the govt will cover the interest," the CM said while distributing loans worth Rs 47 crore to 1,148 young entrepreneurs during a programme in Ayodhya.
The CM said the initiative, announced in Jan 2024 and formally launched in Jan 2025, aimed to enroll one lakh youth within two months, but the response was overwhelming. "Over 3 lakh registrations have been recorded so far. Of these, 1,27,000 applications have been screened and sent to banks, and 32,000 applicants have received loan approvals," he said.
Announcing that the govt was making efforts to expand the scheme, Yogi said: "Special fairs will be organised across all districts on March 25, 26 and 27 where young entrepreneurs will get the opportunity to benefit from the initiative." Quoting PM Narendra Modi's thought that ‘India's youth are no longer just job seekers, they are becoming job providers', the CM urged the youth to make the most of the opportunity.
"Our schemes are transparent, ensuring that young entrepreneurs receive benefits without any obstacles. Young people must understand the details of the scheme and work with dedication to change their fate and also that of people around them," he said. He also encouraged families to support their daughters in taking advantage of the scheme. "The participation of women in all fields is on the rise, and there is no shortage of opportunities—what's needed is the right direction and training. Families must focus on their skill development and vocational training," he said.
Yogi also highlighted the govt's efforts towards women's empowerment. CM pointed out that before 2017, there were only 10,000 women in the UP Police. "In the recent recruitment of 60,200 police personnel, over 12,000 are women. So far, 1,56,000 personnel have been hired of which over 25,000 are women," he said.
Earlier, Yogi inaugurated an exhibition showcasing startups by young entrepreneurs and encouraged them to grow their businesses with patience and dedication.
"Some are making chips, some are producing jaggery-based products, and others are sewing garments for deities. If you have the will to work, there is no shortage of opportunities," he said.
Cabinet ministers Surya Pratap Shahi and Rakesh Sachan, along with mayor Girish Pati Tripathi, MLAs Ved Prakash Gupta, Ramchandra Yadav, Dr Amit Singh Chauhan, and Chandrabhan Paswan, among other public representatives and officials were also present.
