LUCKNOW: More than 14,000 candidates took the Combined Pre Medical Test (CPMT) 2013 from 30 examination centres
in the city here on Sunday. In the state, more than 79,000 candidates took the exam. The exam is being conducted by the Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University of Kanpur as per the instructions of the state medical education department to admit students to its medical, ayurvedic, unani and homeopathy colleges.
Certain private medical and dental colleges also take the CPMT score for their admissions.
Lucknow University (LU) was the nodal center for conducting the CPMT exam in the city. Nodal officer, Rajeev Pandey told reporters that as many as 15,315 students were enrolled to take the exam, but only 14,761 appeared. He claimed that elaborate measures were taken to hold a free and fair exam.
As always, the exam was divided into four parts-zoology, botany, chemistry and physics-and candidates were awarded three hours time to take all multiple choice questions in different categories. There was no negative marking. Talking to reporters about the difficulty level of the exam, some students said the exam was easier than last year while others stated that it was more or less the same.
