IIEST Shibpur starts on campus vaccination
HOWRAH: With more than 50 faculty and non teaching staff suffering from symptomatic Covid infection, the IIEST Shibpur did not wish to take any chances. It approached the state health department to allow it to start vaccination on campus. The state health department agreed because the institute has its own hospital, nursing staff and health workers.

Vaccination started on Friday on this campus.
The vaccines are being supplied to the institute by the district administration, under the supervision of the chief medical officer of health. Vaccination on the campus continued on Saturday.
The institute has also set up an isolation centre with 10 beds to house faculty and staff who test positive but do not have space at home to quarantinet hemselves. The hospital has an additional 14 beds now for serious Covid patients. Both set ups have been medically equipped to face emergency situations, said director of the institute, Partha Sarathi Chakraborti.
