Kolkata: The Directors Association of Eastern India (DAEI) reversed their decision to abstain from shooting after receiving verbal assurance from two senior state cabinet ministers — power minister Aroop Biswas and information and cultural affairs minister Indranil Sen — during a meeting on Friday evening.
Following the meeting, DAEI issued a statement declaring that the issues regarding the shooting of Srijit Roy and
Joydeep Mukherjee's projects had been resolved. Roy also issued a public apology on FB stating that he regrets making a comment that had hurt his "technician friends" and that "we are all one family".
The statement revealed that the two ministers met with three DAEI members, Roy and his producer partner, Mukherjee and his partner, and working committee members of the Federation of Cine Technicians Workers of Eastern India (FCTWEI). "We have been asked to submit our demands and issues in writing. Aroop Biswas has agreed to meet all stakeholders on Feb 20 to find a way forward. He has assured us that any future problems will be resolved," the statement read.
Mukherjee told TOI that he planned to begin shooting his series by the end of March. "I need to secure fresh dates from my artists. I'm eager to start work soon," Mukherjee said. Sources say Roy, who was the first to conduct a Facebook Live session questioning FCTWEI to tell him what his mistake was since technicians of the art setting department were not turning up for his shooting, was informed that a comment he made on social media in Sept had offended FCTWEI members. Roy did not respond to calls but posted a public apology, expressing regret for his comment. "I had no intention of hurting anyone. I apologize if my comment has caused offense. I believe we are all one family," he wrote on FB. Since his controversial comment didn't mention any specific names, his public apology also refrained from doing so.
