Man’s body found with rope around neck near Jotiba temple

Kolhapur: Police in the district have opened a murder investigation after a man's body was found in bushes at the base of Jotiba Temple hill on Saturday. The body was discovered by a visitor to the temple.
Authorities said the body was that of a 45-year-old male. It had a rope wound tightly around the neck, the hands were folded and cloth was found stuffed in his mouth.
Doctors who performed an autopsy said cause of the man's death was most likely asphyxiation caused by strangulation. "We have circulated the man's photos for identification. The post-mortem report stated he likely died one-two days before his body was found," said Kailas Kodag, assistant police inspector of Kodoli station.
