Kanpur: As many as nine aspirants, including seven independents, on Monday filed their nomination papers before the returning officer for election of MLC from the graduate and teachers’ constituency of Kanpur and Unnao.
Six aspirants filed their papers for the teachers’ constituency and the remaining three for the graduates’ constituency. Vinod Kumar, Harish Chandra Dixit, Raj Bahadur Singh Chandel, Bhuvanesh Bhushan, Diwakar Mishra of BJP and Priyanka Yadav of
Samajwadi Party also submitted their nomination papers for the teachers’ constituency while Neha Singh, Pravin Kumar Srivastava and Rajesh Kumar Ahirwar for election from the Graduates’ constituency.
Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party has declared Kamlesh Budhwar as its candidate from the Graduates’ constituency. He will file his nomination papers on January 11. BJP has asked its call centre to make contact with the party office-bearers, workers and voters on Sunday. The BJP has constituted an 11-member team to run the call centre which will make available all information related to the Graduates’, Teachers’ and local body elections. The call centre will be equipped with the electoral list, office-bearers and phone numbers of its volunteers from whom the voters may get complete information about their booth and polling station.
The party has chalked out a plan to soon conduct meetings at the polling station level, and the call centre will provide information regarding meetings to the voters. All information will be fed to the call centre which is a centralized information centre. District BJP president Sunil Bajaj inaugurated the call centre at the party's office on Sunday. The eleven- member team will be led by Rama Shankar Agrahari and Rahul Dixit.
