7 candidates file nominations for Kanpur Nagar

KANPUR: Nomination papers for Kanpur Nagar seat were filed by as many as seven candidates including Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Sukhda Mishra and Omendra Pratap Singh alias Omendra Bharat of Bharat Punarnirman Dal to contest forthcoming Parliamentary elections, on Monday.
Sukhda Mishra filed just one set of papers and she will likely to file more sets on the last day of nomination while others completed their formality and returned in joyous mood along with their supporters.

For Akbarpur Lok Sabha seat as many as 8 candidates including Arun Kumar Tiwari alias Baba of Bhartiya Janta Party filed his nomination. Bharat Punarnirman Dal also marked its presence when its candidate Dharmendra filed nomination paper.
The day began with nomination of an independent candidate Anil Jain for Kanpur Nagar seat. He submitted, his papers before the assistant returning officer around 9.30 am. Thereafter Dr. Santosh Gupta (Independent), Gaya Prasad Sharma (Rashtriya Kamgar Party), Vimal Prajapai, Omendra Pratap Singh, Nisha Nigam and Sukhada Mishra filed their nominations.
Omendra Pratap Singh state president of BPD a party of IITians along with couple of his IIT supporters reached around 12.30 while Sukhada Mishra filed his nomination papers around 1 pm. BSP candidate in her affidavit disclosed that she had a fleet of about half a dozen cars, and ornaments worth Rs 5 lakhs. Besides cash to the tune of Rs. 50,000 she had deposits to the tune of Rs. 20 lakhs in banks and other securities. She had taken loan of Rs. 11.44 lakhs from banks and own a plot worth Rs. one crore. She also announced that agricultural land worth Rs.1.10 crore was in her name and she had also a flat in an apartment worth Rs.18 lakhs
Contrary to Sukhda Mishra, independent candidate Dr. Santosh Mishra in his affidavit said, that he had no property in his name however his wife owned property to the tune of Rs. 10 lakhs in the shape of savings, ornaments and a house of economic weaker section colony. He owns a old scooter.
With seven nominations on Monday, so far nine candidates have filed their candidature for Kanpur Nagar Lok Sabha seat. The other two were Satish Mahan of BJP and Surendra Mohan Agarwal of Samajwadi Party. Congress candidate Sriprakash Jaiswal is perhaps waiting for an auspicious time and day. He will perhaps file his nomination on last day i.e. April 9, 2009.

Arun Kumar Tewari alias Baba a candidate of Bhartiya Janta Party filed his nomination paper at 2.12 pm. Perhaps on the instruction of pundits he reached bare-foot and wearing a dhoti and vest, before the returning officer and presented his papers in between he was chanting mantras in very slow pitched voice.
He had been before the returning officer on April 2 and had withdrawn nomination papers when his proposar had mentioned his serious number s incorrect. After filing the paper he thanked God and said by the grace of God everything was right this time.
Baba who could not clear class Xth in his declaration claimed, that he was master of property to the tune of around Rs Three crores including three plots in Greater Noida while his wife possess property worth Rs. One crore.
Besides Baba, Dharmendra of BPD, Vimal Singh Bhadoria (Independent), Ram Gopal, Shyam Naryan and Mukesh Kumar Rajput all independent candidates filed their nomination papers. Forms and papers of independent candidates Akhilesh Yadav and Mangesh Tewari were found wrongly filled and these were returned.
For this seat two other leading party candidates- Anil Kumar Shukla Warsi of BSP and Kamlesh Pathak of Samajwadi Party had already filed their nomination papers.
