Man held with arms, came to ‘teach a lesson’ to old friends
Jaipur: City police Thursday arrested a 20-year-old man with illegal firearms in Mahesh Nagar area. Acting on a tip-off received by constable Shyam Singh Wednesday night, police located a suspicious vehicle parked under the Triveni Nagar bridge.
SHO (Mahesh Nagar) Gunjan Soni said the team cordoned off the area and detained the suspect.
Soni said the accused, a resident of Helaena in Bharatpur district, was arrested under provisions of the Arms Act. "A country-made pistol, a country-made gun, and two live cartridges were recovered from his possession, along with the vehicle he used to reach Jaipur," she said.
Soni added that the accused, identified as 20-year-old Raj Dagur, travelled to Jaipur in a car with the intent to confront old acquaintances over a personal dispute. "During interrogation, Dagur admitted that he had a longstanding dispute with some former friends and came to the city to teach them a lesson," she said.
Police said a murder case was already registered against the accused at Atalband police station in Bharatpur, for which a chargesheet was filed. Interestingly, the accused claimed to have scored 92% in Class 10 and cleared the REET preliminary exam. He told police he was misled into criminal activities recently, despite his academic achievements.
"Further questioning is underway to ascertain the source of the firearms and to probe any potential links to organised crime," she said.
