Jaisalmer: Twelve men were sentenced by a trial court at Pokhran to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment along with fines Tuesday for brutally assaulting a woman by cutting her nose and tongue in Sankra area of Jaisalmer district in Nov 2020.
Additional district judge Narendra Kumar Khatri convicted the twelve men for the brutal attack on the woman, a widow, and pronounced the sentence.
Public prosecutor Samandar Singh Rathore said the woman was attacked because she resisted pressure from her in-laws for a second marriage following her husband's death and sought refuge at her parental home.
The convicted men are Janu Khan, Nawab Khan, Anwar, Dulhe Khan, Iqbal Khan, Farukh Khan, Ladu Khan, Nemat Khan, Manu Khan, Hasam Khan, Salim Khan, and Ambe Khan. TNN
