Wall collapses in Burhanpur, one dead & two injured
Indore: A man was killed and two injured when a wall collapsed on them on Thursday in Burhanpur district's Nagjhiri area.
"The incident took place when workers were digging a trench to lay pipelines near Pipal Ghat in afternoon when the wall suddenly collapsed, burying them underneath," SP Devendra Patidar said.
The workers had come from Mandi area to work at the site. The deceased was identified as Waseem Khan, a resident of Lohar Mandi. "One worker sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at district hospital. The third worker, Ayaz Saheb, suffered minor injuries," he said, adding that a case has been registered.
On receiving information about the incident, Ganpati Naka police and a municipal corporation team arrived at the scene. ADM Veer Singh Chauhan, who also visited the site, assured that appropriate action would be taken in the matter after a probe.
In another incident, a fire broke out in Utambi village, 40 km from Burhanpur district headquarters in Dhulkot area. The fire, allegedly caused by a short circuit, engulfed around half-a-dozen huts late on Wednesday night. Residents said that the fire killed a few goats and hens, and destroyed some cash, and household items. According to Nepanagar SDM Bhagirath Wakhla, financial assistance would be provided to the affected families after an investigation.
