Indore: In Indore, more than 25,000 students are expected to appear for the exam at 49 designated centres for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate courses (NEET-UG), conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The exam will be held on May 4 across the country.
To ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examination, the district administration has put in place elaborate arrangements, focusing on confidentiality and security. District collector Ashish Singh deployed magistrates at each exam centre, who will oversee the examination process and ensure strict adherence to rules.
These officers were instructed to reach their respective centres prior to the exam day, inspect all facilities, and coordinate with centre superintendents to rectify any shortcomings.
In a significant decision regarding centre management, govt school principals have been appointed as assistant in-charges at most centres. This arrangement was made particularly for centres located in private institutions, where the hosting school's teachers will supervise logistics and conduct. Govt school principals will assist and represent the state's education administration at each centre.
Out of the 49 centres in Indore, around 29 are situated in private schools, with the remainder in govt schools and higher educational institutions. Preparations also include enhanced security measures, including the deployment of police personnel and installation of jammers at sensitive centres.
A control room has been set up at the Collector's office for coordination and monitoring, under the charge of Joint Collector Vijay Mandloi. In line with measures taken after previous incidents of malpractice, this year's NEET-UG will also feature stricter protocols nationwide.
Candidates will be allowed entry three hours before the start of the exam, and for the first time, every candidate will undergo videography inside the exam hall. This footage may later be matched during the counselling process to prevent impersonation and ensure fairness.
With all arrangements in place, Indore is fully prepared to host NEET-UG 2025 in a secure, transparent, and efficient manner.
