Indore:
Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) has decided to award bonus marks to Class 10 and 12 students after several errors were detected in the question papers during the ongoing evaluation process.
The board has issued instructions to all evaluation centres, ensuring that no student suffers due to inaccuracies in the examination papers. The Class 10 and 12 exams began on Feb 25 and 27 respectively, and the evaluation of nearly one crore answer sheets started on March 13.
During the checking process, examiners came across multiple instances where the questions or their options were incorrect. In response, the board promptly formed a committee of subject experts to thoroughly review the question papers. Based on this review, bonus marks will be granted wherever required, and the evaluation pattern has also been revised. The changes aim to ensure that the final results are fair, transparent, and do not disadvantage any student.
MPBSE public relations officer Bhupesh Gupta said the committee's findings are being taken into consideration during the assessment of papers. For instance, in p hysics exam held on March 4 (Set A), questions 9 and 16 contained errors. Even if the correct answer was not listed among the options, students using the right formula will be given marks. In economics paper of the same date and set, all options for question 2 were incorrect, so students will be awarded marks for choosing any of the given options.
In the sociology paper held on March 20, spelling mistakes were found in key terms, such as ‘Bargesh' instead of ‘Bargal', and ‘Dharmant' in place of ‘Dharmaan'. Students making an attempt will be given marks. Similarly, in the Sanskrit paper of March 12, due to a lack of clarity in the options, all answers will be considered correct. In the Chemistry paper of March 17, an incorrect formula was printed and has now been corrected during evaluation. The higher mathematics paper of March 25 (Set A) had a completely incorrect question, for which bonus marks will be awarded.
The board has assured students and parents that all possible measures were being taken to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the examination results.
