Supreme Court stays Manipur MLA's disqualification order

Imphal: The Supreme Court on Friday stayed an earlier order of the Manipur high court that declared null and void the election of M Prithviraj as a legislator of the assembly.
Prithviraj won on a Congress ticket from the Moirang assembly constituency in the 2012 assembly polls. On February 29, the Manipur HC had declared null and void his election for submitting a fake MBA certificate from Mysore University in his election affidavit.
While staying the HC verdict, the apex court maintained that the petitioner (Prithviraj) is permitted to participate in the proceedings but not to vote and draw remuneration as a legislator.
