HYDERABAD: Five days after the murder of Advocate G
Vijay Reddy, husband of Yellammagudem village sarpanch, Sandhya Reddy, Nalgonda police arrested three persons, who had made two abortive bids before finding their target last Saturday.
The duo of Sandeep and
Praveen Reddy hatched the murder plot a month ago and were ably assisted by an accomplice, Upender Reddy, who would share information on
Vijay Reddy’s movements, said police.
During questioning, the accused claimed Vijay had lodged several criminal cases against them and their family and one of their parents had to go to prison in 2006, following a FIR. Ten years later, Vijay again registered a case against the prime accused, Sandeep Reddy, over a dispute over 200 square yard plot. “Ever since his wife, Sandhya, was elected sarpanch, Vijay allegedly wielded political influence to harass the accused, who finally hammered out a plan to snuff out Vijay Reddy,” said a police officer.
Sandeep and Praveen failed twice to execute the murder plan. The duo then sought help of Upender, who owned land adjacent to Vijay’s property, to track his movements, said police.
On August 13, the accused hacked Vijay to death with axes.
