MLC polls: Swamy Goud wins from Karimnagar

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader K Swamy Goud won the legislative council seat from Karimnagar graduate constituency that went to polls with other five seats on February 21.

HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader K Swamy Goud won the legislative council seat from Karimnagar graduate constituency that went to polls with other five seats on February 21. Goud polled 33,000 first preferential votes to win the Karimnagar graduates' seat.
In the elections fought on a non-party basis, TRS had supported three candidates including Swamy Goud in Karimnagar graduates' constituency and candidates in Karimnagar teachers' constituency and Nalgonda teachers' constituency that come under Telangana.

While TRS-backed P Sudhakar Reddy won Karimnagar Teachers' constituency, Poola Ravinder of Progressive Recognised Teachers' union (PRTU) won against Varada Reddy, who was supported by TRS, in Nalgonda teachers' constituency.
Among three seats in Andhra, PRTU leader Gade Srinivasulu Naidu won Srikakulam teachers' constituency. The results of the graduate constituencies of Krishna-Guntur, and East-West Godavari are expected to be out on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, chief electoral officer (CEO) on Monday announced the election schedule for 10 Legislative Council seats according to which the polls for the seats would be held on March 21. Notification of the elections will be issued on March 4. The candidates can file nomination from till March 11.
