Lawyer files complaint against actor Vijay Devarakonda over remarks on tribals at Retro pre-release event
Hyderabad: A lawyer has lodged a complaint with SR Nagar police, accusing actor Vijay Devarakonda of making derogatory remarks about tribal communities during a pre-release event for Tamil actor Suriya's film Retro, held on April 26 at a convention centre in Jubilee Hills.
The complaint was filed by Kishan Raj Chauhan, president of the Tribal Lawyers' Association, Telangana. He alleged that Vijay, while addressing a large audience at the event, drew an inappropriate comparison between present-day socio-political unrest and tribal conflicts from 500 years ago. "Referring to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, the actor likened terrorists to tribal groups who fought amongst themselves centuries ago, saying, ‘They are fighting without applying mind and common sense, like the tribals fought among themselves 500 years ago,'" Chauhan stated in his complaint.

Police confirmed they have made a general diary entry but have not yet registered a case. "An advocate has lodged a complaint against actor Vijay Devarakonda. We have referred it for legal opinion and will proceed based on the advice received," said SR Nagar inspector T Srinath Reddy.
