'Did not clarify any of our doubts': K Kavitha slams Telangana Government over loan repayment transparency
NEW DELHI: BRS leader and MLC K Kavitha has accused the Telangana government of lacking transparency over its claim of using Rs 1.53 lakh crore to repay previous administration's debts, alleging that officials failed to provide details when questioned during the Assembly session on Friday.
Kavitha expressed her concerns about the government's financial disclosures after the Assembly proceedings.
"The government of Telangana told the House today that they have utilized Rs 1.53 lakh crore of the loan taken this year to repay the debt of the previous government. When we asked for details and pressed for clarification, the Finance Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister of our state did not clarify any of our doubts," Kavitha told ANI.
She criticized the ministers for avoiding specific questions and noted discrepancies between their statements and budget documents.
"We asked specific questions, but he evaded the answers. What he said was not in the budget papers. So, we are discussing this within the party, and we might move a privilege motion in the last two days of the budget session. We will continue to fight the government and bring out the truth so the people of Telangana can understand the reality," she stated.
The BRS party, under Kavitha's leadership, organized a protest at the Telangana Legislative Council against the Rs 1.5 lakh crore loan taken by the Revanth Reddy-led government in the past 15 months.
Kavitha further challenged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's credibility, saying he had misled the public about the state's loan acquisitions.
She demanded the government release a white paper detailing the loans taken during the past 15 months.
Kavitha also disputed Reddy's recent statement claiming that loans worth Rs 1.58 lakh crore were acquired to settle debts from the previous government led by K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).
The BRS leader indicated that her party is considering filing a privilege motion in the Assembly during the final two days of the budget session.
