CM Siddaramaiah said the process of making jobs all pourakarmikas (civic workers) permanent is under way. All of them will be regularised soon. He was speaking after inaugurating the Smart Kalamandir, a multipurpose commercial complex built at a cost of Rs 47.8 crore under the Smart City project near the first gate of Tilakwadi in Belagavi, on Sunday.
Siddaramaiah also said that it was decided during the period of the previous govt to make the pourakarmika posts permanent. Now the state govt is implementing the decision. Instead of contract-based recruitment, a minimum salary of Rs 17,000 will be paid to pourakarmikas through direct recruitment. The process is under way. Apart from this, steps have been taken to pay minimum wages to drivers and operators working under panchayats, he said. He added that it has been decided to provide three-wheelers to all the disabled.
The state and central govts have provided 50% each for the implementation of the Smart City Projects. Some of the pending works in Belagavi city will be completed and inaugurated in a few days. A total of Rs 6,928 crore was released for the Smart City projects in the state, of which Rs 3,500 crore is the state's share. The chief minister said that the govt is committed to facilitate comprehensive development of Belagavi.
"This multipurpose modern shopping complex will generate employment and income. This income will be used for the development of the city," he said and suggested the officials to auction the buildings and use the income generated for the development of the city.
CM assured that action will be taken to examine the files and provide more compensation to facilitate the provision of more land acquisition compensation for the Halaga Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).
Byrathi Suresh, minister for urban development, said that in the next three years, steps will be taken to consider all the pourakarmikas in the state as govt employees, along with paying their salaries through local bodies. E-accounts will be created for more than 50,000 properties in Belagavi city. Rs 200 crore is being provided to 10 municipal corporations in the state, he said.
MLA Abhay Patil requested the CM to provide a grant of five crore rupees to facilitate the acquisition of another 17 acres of land for the waste treatment plant being built in rural Belagavi at a cost of Rs 165 crore.
Public works and district minister Satish Jarkiholi, women and child development minister Laxmi Hebbalkar, chief whip Ashok Pattan, MLA Asif (Raju) Sait, MLC Channaraj Hattiholi, Nagaraj Yadav, urban development secretary Deepa Cholan, deputy commissioner Mohammed Roshan, ZP CEO Rahul Shinde, mayor Mangesh Pawar, Deputy mayor Vani Joshi, BCC commissioner Shubha B, and Smart City MD Syeda Afreen Banu Bellary were present.
