GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students' Union (Aasu) on Tuesday in a press release stated that at a meeting with the general manager of NF Railways held last month, it had suggested the naming of two trains after the late singer
Bhupen Hazarika with a view to preserve and propagate his works and to highlight his contributions.
The students' union had put forward two proposals - naming of an important long-distance train after Hazarika and the introduction of a Bhupen Hazarika cultural train - with the intention of propagating his works.
Apart from this, a suggestion to christen the vital Guwahati Railway Station as Bhupen Hazarika Railway Station was also placed before the general manager, through whom the proposals would be placed before the
railway minister.
