State to recruit 4,000 more staff for HRD corp by ’27: CM
Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday announced that the staff of the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC) who complete a two-year probation without any case or complaint would automatically become permanent employees. Sawant said that govt will recruit another 4,000 employees for the corporation by 2027.
He said 30,000 have applied for diverse posts in the corporation. He said 10% of the jobs have been reserved for the corporation’s employees in Goa police, the fire department, and the forest department.
Sawant announced the abolition of service tax on the salaries of the corporation’s employees, which will increase their salaries between Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000 from next month.
He said govt is considering providing home loans and bonuses to the corporation’s employees on a par with other govt employees.
Further, he said that govt has tied up with the National Skill Development Corporation, which will help the corporation’s employees to work abroad.
He added that their jobs will be secure for almost two years like govt employees’. Sawant announced a paid maternity leave of six months to eligible women employees of the corporation.
“Henceforth, govt will pay the service tax of the corporation employees’ salaries. If possible, we will do it with retrospective effect,” Sawant said.
The CM said that once an employee is confirmed in their job, they will get a double increment.
“This is not a temporary job. This is a permanent job. A lot of youth used to question the temporary nature of the job,” Sawant said. “After completing two years of the probation period, those who have completed it sincerely, without being absent and without any case or complaint, would automatically become permanent staff in this corporation.”
The CM said that once they become permanent, the employees will get other benefits. He said employees with complaints and cases will have to wait for another year to become permanent in the service.
Sawant said that those who complete three years in the corporation would be eligible to join uniformed services like Goa police, the fire department, and the forest department after they clear physical and written tests.
“We have issued a notification. In normal circumstances, if a youth gets an opportunity at the age of 25 to join Goa police, we have given a five-year relaxation to the employees of the corporation to join the force,” Sawant said. “You have to remain fit to take this opportunity.”
Speaking at the annual function of the GHRDC, Sawant said had govt not set up the corporation, 4,000 people would have come to Goa from outside the state with their families to work, and nobody in Goa would have taken up these jobs.
