Sattari leads in GMC and health service recruitment
Porvorim: Sattari taluka had the highest recruitments to Goa Medical College and the health directorate in the past five years, health minister Vishwajit Rane stated in a written reply in the recently concluded assembly session.
Out of 2,148 staff recruited to GMC in five years, 40% (876) were from Sattari, and the rest from 11 other talukas. Eight regular and three contract staff were recruited from other states.
Of 993 recruits to the health directorate in five years, 35% (349) were from Sattari, whose two constituencies are represented by Rane and his wife.
Rane provided the information in response to Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar’s question on taluka-wise recruitments to GMC and health services.
GMC’s five-year recruitments include 801 nurses, 356 multi-tasking staff (MTS), 119 lower divisional clerks (LDC), 26 pharmacists, 25 lecturers, 25 professors, 21 assistant professors, 41 junior technicians, 13 physiotherapists, 12 dialysis technicians, 21 tutor/demonstrators, nine senior technicians, and 12 occupational therapists.
The health directorate recruited 146 nurses, 187 MTS, 67 LDCs, 59 auxiliary nurse and midwifes, 56 health workers, and various other staff, including accountants, technicians, drivers, social workers, data entry operators and consultants.
