Panaji: Dronacharya Award-winning coaches Armando Colaco and Bimal Ghosh have been appointed as advisors to All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Kalyan Chaubey.
The decision was approved at the executive committee meeting on Monday.
“Your expertise, particularly in coaching and administration, has had a lasting impact on the game, and we are confident that your association with AIFF in this advisory capacity will provide significant strategic direction to our initiatives. Your presence will undoubtedly strengthen our efforts to enhance grassroots programs, professional leagues, and the overall football ecosystem in the country,” Chaubey wrote in his offer to Armando last week.
Chaubey, a former India goalkeeper, said the vision and guidance of the two experienced coaches will play a key role in developing AIFF’s vision for football development in India.
Armando and Bimal, in coordination with technical director Syed Sabir Pasha, national team director Subrata Paul, technical committee chairperson IM Vijayan, Padma Shri awardee, and deputy chairperson Shabbir Ali will support the chief coaches of the men’s and women’s national teams across all age categories.
Colaco is among the most successful coaches in Indian football, winning five national league titles with Dempo SC. He has also coached East Bengal in the I-League, and is currently with Sporting Clube de Goa.
