Did you hear the roar? The preliminary round of the western music group song (with band) competition of Times NIE Pepsi Storm 2003 got off to a roaring start at Manav Sthali School, New Rajinder Nagar. Over 300 students rocked the audience.
“We have waited a whole year for the event to happen. The Times of India NIE Pepsi Storm is the best,’’ said Henna Sethi (vocalist in the band).

The all girls (vocalists) 10 member band, which made it to the finals, thanked the school for their breath taking performance.
‘‘The school supported us right from the start. They even postponed our internal examinations for classes XI and XII so that we get enough time to practice,’’ said Shibani Bedi, the vocalist in the band.
Practice makes a band perfect, was the motto of the four-member Copperstone band of St Columba’s, another finalist.
‘‘Pepsi Storm has taught us a very important lesson. Always check your instruments before you start playing on the stage,’’ said Sanchar Malhar Thakur (band vocalist). The noise, far from distracting, provided solace to the band of Fr Agnel, also a finalist. ‘‘Cheering keeps the adrenaline pumping,’’ said Abish Mathew (vocalist).
The other finalists to compete in the finals to be held on October 16 are DPS Mathura Road, Bal Bharati Ganga Ram Marg, Apeejay Pitampura and Birla Vidya Niketan. The judges for the grand finale are George Pulinkala, director Delhi Music Theatre, former DJ Ghungroo Sunny Sarid, Shibani Kashyap, Jawahar Wattal and Silk Route singer Mohit Chauhan.
