Man apprehended for creating fake social media profile with morphed photos
New Delhi: A 27-year-old man was apprehended for allegedly creating a fake social media account in the name of a former colleague and uploading morphed nude photographs along with her mobile number.
The case came to light on March 11 when a complaint was registered at Cyber police station, Outer District. "The team traced the origin of the fake account through digital footprints, including IP addresses, email IDs, and mobile number records, which ultimately led them to the suspect's location," DCP Sachin Sharma (Outer) said.
The accused, identified as Divanshu, was apprehended from west Delhi's Harinagar. During interrogation, police found that the accused was previously employed as a bartender at a restaurant in Subhash Place, where he became acquainted with the complainant, who worked there as a waitress. "After their friendship ended and he was reportedly terminated from his job in Dec 2024, Divanshu allegedly retaliated by creating the fake profile and posting obscene content," a senior police officer said.
