NEW DELHI: Central Delhi saw strict restrictions on traffic movement on Friday with New Delhi designated as Controlled Zone I from 5am till Sunday 11.59pm. Buses were allowed to operate only on Ring Road and towards the borders of Delhi.
Till Sunday night, only bona-fide residents of areas in this zone, authorised vehicles and emergency vehicles will be allowed to travel in New Delhi.

The area circumscribed by Ring Road also became the Regulated Zone from Friday 5am and will continue to be so till Sunday 11.59pm.
Residents, passengers travelling to airport or railway station will be allowed to ply on road network beyond Ring Road towards New Delhi district. At least 16 roads and junctions will be treated as being in the Controlled Zone II from 12midnight to 2pm on Sunday. These include W-Point and A-Point at ITO, DDU Marg, Vikas Marg till Noida Link Road-Pushta Road, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Delhi Gate.
The entry of goods vehicles into Delhi from across the borders has been stopped. Buses too cannot enter from the Rajokri border from Friday to September 10. Delhi Traffic Police said that non-destined traffic and unauthorised vehicles would not be allowed to enter New Delhi district.
Online delivery services, except for essential services, have been barred in areas where the G20 summit venue and hotels for delegates are located. "Around 10,000 traffic police personnel will be deployed at various junctions to ensure compliance," s police officer said.
Another officer said, "Essential services such as postal and medical services and sample collection by pathology labs will be allowed anywhere in the city." Police also said ambulances could move freely in the city.

Tourists will be permitted to travel but will need to present proper identification documents when asked for.
As Seherdeep and his friend, who stayed in the New Delhi area on Thursday and was driving to Indira Gandhi International Airport said on Friday, "We produced the necessary documents, including flight tickets, and the cops allowed us to reach the airport."
The cops will deploy around 180 vehicles and 950 two-wheelers to secure the routes, venues and hotels. Eighty cranes have been placed at strategic spots to take immediately care of any vehicular breakdown.
Disaster management vehicles will be present on routes to be taken by the foreign delegates.
