East Delhi councillor's election void
NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Wednesday observed discrepancy on the part of the Election Commission and declared the municipal polls held at an east Delhi ward in 2012 as null and void.
The winner, Priyanka Gautam of BSP, is restrained from becoming a municipal councillor, said Additional District Judge Virender Kumar Goyal.
Congress candidate, Savita Verma, who had contested the polls in Kondli (ward 215), had alleged that the presiding officer in collusion with the returning officer and Gautam had rigged the elections.

The court, however, said that Verma cannot be declared as the successful candidate given the non-compliance of the electoral provisions.
