CHENNAI: Another Class X schoolgirl committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at her residence in Pallikaranai on Wednesday night. Upset over not being able to become the school topper, 16-year-old
Srividya, a student of Ramakrishna Saradha Higher Secondary School set her self ablaze and died.
Police said Srividya, daughter of Veerappan, had scored a total of 412 marks.
She was confident that she would do well in her exams and top the school and had even told her friends about it. Soon after the results came out, Srividya returned from school and doused herself with kerosene and set herself ablaze. She was rushed to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Sukanya, another Class X student from Kodambakkam, who was admitted to the same hospital after self immolation, succumbed to her injuries on Thursday morning.
